The Universitas Swimming Complex located in the Iuliu Hațieganu Sports Park is part of the sports complex (courts and gyms), owned by the Babes-Bolyai University. It was inaugurated on September 27, 2009 and opened from February 1, 2010 to swimming classes and to the public also. It is primarily a teaching space for students of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport with daily swimming lessons; entertainment for other people, but also offering basic initiation in swimming technique for children and adults.
The complex offers an Olympic-sized pool (50 x 20.6 meters), with 8 lanes equipped with starting blocks; with a water temperature range of 26-28 ºC and an ambient temperature of 28-30 ºC and a depth range from 1.80 to 2.00 meters. The quality of the bathing water is constantly tested, both from a chemical and a microbiological point of view, by an automated state of the art water treatment system.
The complex features locker rooms and shower rooms on three levels, classrooms for students, offices for teachers and a medical office. It also includes an audience stand with a capacity of 556 seats.
The lifeguards service is present throughout the opening hours of the swimming pool. The general public has permanent access during this time by paying a ticket/ membership, while the teaching activities takes place in parallel with other activities on reserved lanes.
In the small pool the water temperature ranges between 30-32°C, and the depth ranges between 0.80-1.20 m.
In the big pool, the water temperature ranges between 26-28°C, and the depth between 1.8-2 m.
The Swimming Complex of the University also includes a gym, open to the public from October 1, 2015.
