Applying the principle of the free access right to information for all citizens, the Central University Library "Lucian Blaga" addresses students, teachers and researchers from the Babes-Bolyai University and the local community as a whole. The Central University Library from Cluj offers the public encyclopaedic and/or specialized collections of publications of scientific nature and high cultural value from the country and from abroad, in line with the educational, research and cultural programmes of the academic environment from Cluj.

Among the categories of documents collected we mention: national and foreign book funds, serial publications, manuscripts, archival documents, cartography documents, printed music, micro format, graphic, audio-visual, electronic, photographic or multiplied documents.

The Central University Library offers general and specialized reading rooms services with direct and indirect access to publications, documents home loan services, domestic and international documents loan services, scientific references services, bibliographic information, access to Romanian or foreign databases, guidance, mentoring and training services.
