The executive management of the University is provided by the Rector, with the assistance of nine pro-rectors, an administrative general chancellor and the general secretariat.  The ultimate decision unit is the University Senate, consisting of 140 people (deans, pro-deans, representative figures of the academic field, researchers, college directors, students representatives), which assembles in periodical sessions within permanent committees for decision making purposes. 

The Academic Council elaborates regulation projects, policies, development strategies of the Babes-Bolyai University; any project for general regulations, policies and strategies project of the Babes-Bolyai University must be approved by the Academic Council; ensures the specialized international assessment  of the organization and functioning of the Babes-Bolyai University by means of IAB.

The General Administrative Direction coordinates through its specialized staff with socio-economical, administrative and technical training the entire administrative, technical and financial-accounting activity of the University.
